JK46A: An amazing low end for Master Audio’s first column array
Master Audio announces the launch of its first self-powered column array loudspeaker, the JK46A, a 4×6” plus driver concept in a compact size and extremely lightweight.

The new member of the company’s well-established Joker Series brings a revolutionary concept to this market segment. Unlike many of the options available today, the JK46A offers an outstanding performance at low frequency, enabling it for many applications where column arrays might be desired but discarded, due to insufficient bass performance. The JK46A provides an exquisite frequency response, topped with an amazing low end down to 50Hz.
“We set a big effort in the acoustics design to obtain these results”, comments Natàlia Milán, chief acoustics engineer at Master Audio. “Our challenge was to outperform a classical 12”+driver system, and we definitely achieved it.”
Having a look at the list of components used in JK46A unveils that Master Audio’s development team cared about every single piece: Neodymium magnet woofers with carbon fibre cones, PETP membrane compression driver, a 700W Class D amplifier, 48-bit processing DSP, high quality plywood, high resistant Polyurea paint finish and a wide variety of accessories for an easy and comfortable installation.
The original Joker asymmetric horn in combination with the 4x 6” Neodymium woofers match perfectly to provide a controlled directivity, keeping an ideal coverage from the front to the back of the audience. When a long audience area with multiple points needs to be covered, the built-in DSP with up to 40m delay-line makes it straightforward without struggling with external equipment.
The 700 W power amplifier (1400 W peak) boosts the cabinet to a remarkable program level of 125 dB SPL (128 dB Peak). The internal DSP cares about the loudspeakers with unique compression algorithms, and also offers the possibility of quickly changing the EQ by choosing from the factory defined presets. The built-in LCD screen offers comprehensive information about input and output level, status and amplifier temperature.
“Small performers who are used to carry their equipment themselves will be delighted. It’s hard to find such a good performance in this format. The JK46A widens the application possibilities of column systems”, adds Daniel Bartolomé, Master Audio’s Product Application Engineer.
The first batch of production will be produced at the company’s Factory in Terrassa, Spain in September, and will be immediately available to retailers.
The suggested retail price will be 1.387€ per unit.
